Magents Makes Bold Pirates Prediction

Former Orlando Pirates skipper Edward Motale believes the side’s record especially away in the CAF Champions League puts them in good standing to make the final this season.

Motale’s comments come as Pirates gears up for the 2nd leg semi-final clash away at Pyramids FC in Egypt in pursuit of African glory. Jose Riveiro’s men are still unbeaten in the tournament having played to a goalless draw in the 1st leg of the semi-final tie in Orlando a week ago. The result means it’s still anybody’s game.

‘Magents’, who led Pirates to Champions League glory in 1995, told iDiski Times senior writer Matshelane Mamabolo in edition 201 of the newspaper that he has no doubt the Sea Robbers will prevail in Cairo.

“The goalless draw is not a bad result at all,” Magents told iDiski Times.

“Pirates have a lot of chances to win the tie. After all, we have all seen how good they have been playing when they are away in this competition. They’ve been scoring most of their wins away because they seem to perform with much more freedom and enjoyment away from their home crowd, who seem to put them under some pressure.

Pyramids had two goals denied by VAR in the first leg albeit in a closed game, but Magents believes they will be forced to play an open game at home.

“In their own backyard they will have to come out of their shell and play,” added Magents.

“And that will work to Pirates’ favour because our boys enjoy an open game, they thrive in those types of matches. So for me, Pirates will win this one. They are going to reach the final.”
