Mamelodi Sundowns head Manqoba Mngqithi has explained why he changed his complete starting XI in the second leg of their CAF Champions League second preliminary round clash.
Masandawana beat Mbabane Swallows 4-0 on the night thanks to goals by Kobamelo Kodisang, Malibongwe Khoza, Thembinkosi Lorch and Sphelelele Mkhulise scoring the goals.
The victory came despite Mngqithi ringing the changes, with the coach explaining he is trying to manage his squad ahead of a long and testing season.
“It’s very important for everyone in our group to believe that he’s got a chance to play in this team,” he said on SABC3.
“I think we are sailing very nicely in that space.
“The honest truth is that all these boys did very well in pre-season, so they deserve their own chance because we’ve got a lot of games ahead of us.
“Which is why we are trying to rest out players regularly, to make sure that when the season gets tight at least everybody is still fresh enough to help the team.”
