Orlando Pirates coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has reacted to his side’s victory over Lioli FC that secured them a spot in the CAF Champions League next round.
The Buccaneers defeated the Lesotho outfit 4-0 in the second leg at the Orlando Stadium, winning the two-legged first round 7-0 on aggregate.
The French-Moroccan coach praised the character of his side and the good display they produced on the day.
“It’s what we wanted to achieve, it was important for us to [prove again] the performance that we produced in the first leg,” Ouaddou told SABC Sport after the game.
“And I have to congratulate my boys about the character, the personality and the ambition to play the good football and score goals until the end.
“They played a good football for our fans and it’s good.”
Ouaddou says that at half-time, he told the team not to panic but to stick to the plan they had for the match.
“I was not panicking, I told the guys to continue to focus on the plan to find the each other between the lines,” he added.
“We did well, now we have to focus on the next league that is upcoming for us.”
