Orlando Pirates advanced to the CAF Champions League group stage after hammering Namibian champions African Stars 4-0 at Orlando Amstel Arena on Friday.
After the 1-0 win away from home Pirates had one foot in the CAFCL group stages, while African Stars needed to overturn the scoreline to progress.
The Buccaneers had a perfect start to the game to settle the nerves, as they found the back of the net in the 17th minute through Thapelo Mokobodi after a great build-up that included Thalente Mbatha and Simphiwe Masilela.
The Buccaneers controlled the game more and threatened more than the Namibian champions. The Sea Robbers got rewarded just before half-time when Masilela set up Evidence Makgopa through on goal to make it 2-0.
Abdeslam Ouaddou must have told his troops not to take the foot off the paddle as they kicked off the second half with the same intensity they finished the first half with.
Makgopa turned to provider this time around as he set up young Mpho Padime who scored his first goal for the club to extend the lead to 3-0.
With 10 minutes remaining in normal time, Pirates extended their lead to make it 4-0, as Makgopa continued to be a nightmare for the Namibian champions, completing his brace.
Pirates advanced to the CAFCL group stages joining the likes of Petro de Luanda and Young Africans.
