Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns have found out their CAF Champions League first preliminary rounds opponents after Thursday’s draw.
While Mamelodi Sundowns were one of the five exempted teams alongside Al Ahly, ES Tunis, Petro de Luanda and TP Mazembe as one of the five exempted clubs.
Those exemptions are based on the latest CAF ranking, while Pirates were placed in Pot 3.
The Buccaneers will face Disciples FC from Madagascar in the first preliminary round of this year’s CAF Champions League.
If Pirates would get past Disciples FC they would then face winner of the tie between Africans Stars of Namibia and Morena Ramoreboli’s Jwaneng Galaxy.
Meanwhile, Sundowns will face the winner of the tie between eSwatini’s Mbabane Swallows and Mozambique side Clube Ferroviario da Beira in the second preliminary round.
