Orlando Pirates‘ new signing Deano van Rooyen was spotted with the number three at official training on Thursday morning.
The shirt number, previously worn by star midfielder Thembinkosi Lorch before his deadline day move to Mamelodi Sundowns in January, was vacant until now.
It appears their marquee signing, in the form of landing the Stellenbosch FC captain has now seen the right-back secure the shirt number.
Pirates released their 2024/25 shirt numbers before their MTN8 opener against SuperSport United, in which they won 3-1 after extra time.
Meanwhile, Relebohile Mofokeng will don the No. 3 shirt in CAF competitions, where numbers must be limited to 40, with Van Rooyen wearing the 30.
Added to van Rooyen, two new faces, previously on loan at Orbit College were also seen at Orlando Stadium on Thursday as they prepare to face Disciples FC on Friday evening.
