Pitso Mosimane has announced his Al Ahly squad for their CAF Champions League opener against Union Sportive de la Gendarmerie of Niger, but didn’t included Percy Tau.
The South Africa winger, who joined the Egyptian giants in the recent transfer window, had resumed full training on 4 October after suffering an injury during the previous international break with Bafana Bafana.
However, he wasn’t included in Mosimane’s squad for their trip to Niger, which also didn’t include the other new signings Luis Miquissone, Karim Fouad, and Hossam Hassan, as well as returnees Ahmed Ashraf Abdelkader and Amar Hamdi.
In addition, Mosimane also left Mohamed Magdy Afsha, Mohamed El-Shennawy, Hussien El-Shahat, and Salah Mohsen out of his squad.
Al Ahly face USGN in Niger at 17:30 on Saturday, kicking off their title defence after lifting the last two CAF Champions League trophies.
The Red Devils had a bye in the first round, while USGN beat Le Messager Ngozi of Burundi 2-1 on aggregate.
