Pitso Reveals Toughest CAFCL Games, Snubs Chiefs
Pitso Mosimane has revealed the three toughest teams Al Ahly faced in the CAF Champions League, but didn’t mention Kaizer Chiefs.
The ‘Club of the Century’ beat Amakhosi 3-0 in the final to lift their 10th title in the competition, the famous ‘La Decima’.
After the red card for Happy Mashiane just before half-time the final was pretty much a one-sided affair.
As a consequence, Mosimane didn’t list the final as one of the toughest games Al Ahly played in the competition this season, but he did mention his former side Mamelodi Sundowns.
“(The) Simba game was very difficult, playing against them is exhausting,” Mosimane told Al Nahar tv channel.
“Al-Merrikh and Sundowns matches were very difficult too.
“The hardest thing to face as a coach is a random team, which happens a lot with us.”
Mosimane also insisted that he believes his side can do well at the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup in December and highlighted once more that the defeat against Simba came at the right time for his side.
“I have to be the source of positive energy for the team. I believe in our chances to win the FIFA Club World Cup even if that seemed impossible.
“When we played against Bayern Munich, the best team in the world, people thought we were invincible, our loss against Simba returned us to reality, it was the shock we needed to wake up.”
Mosimane and al Ahly will return to domestic football on Thursday already when they will face National Bank of Egypt in the Premier League. They currently sit in second place, 10 points behind Zamalek with four games in hand.
