Ramoreboli – What Pitso Said To Me About CAFCL
Botswana champions Jwaneng Galaxy coach Morena Ramoreboli has revealed what Al Ahly coach Pitso Mosimane advised him ahead of his side’s CAF Champions League clash against Simba SC.
The South African-born coach and Galaxy knocked out Simba Sports Club from the Africa’s elite club competition after beating them 3-1 in Tanzania to progress based on the away goals rule.
Ramoreboli, who was also in charge of Bafana Bafana when they lifted the Cosafa Cup recently, spoke to iDiski Times senior writer Velile Mnyandu about his exploits in the Champions League and what the many messages from South Africa mean to him.
“South African people love winning, and if you win, South Africans will appreciate you. It has always been that one thing in my mind that for you to be recognised you need to win,” he told iDiski Times.
“Secondly the top coaches who went out to talk about my success, the likes of coach Manqoba Mngqithi, coach Pitso Mosimane, coach Steve Komphela. Their messages simply say stay humble, work hard and people will recognise you.
“The Bible says, those who humble themselves will be lifted and I believe it is a journey that needs one to be humbled and be lifted by the results you produce.”
Ramoreboli also opened up about what Mosimane told him after losing to Simba in Tanzania with eventual CAFCL champions Al Ahly last year.
“We spoke before we even played the first leg with Simba, we’ve been talking, we are very close,” he explained.
“Before we went to Simba we spoke, and he gave some advices how Simba approaches their games.
“I also had a conversation with Ntseki Molefi from Kaizer Chiefs about their experiences when they were there.
“All of this advice was very important, especially from Coach Pitso who has been there and lost a match there, I had to take his advice and make sure we go there and we do our best in making sure that we do well as a team.”
