Following a 5-1 thumping in the CAF Champions League against Mamelodi Sundowns, Remo Stars technical advisor Tiago Conde believe they can turn things around in the second leg in South Africa.
Stars went to the fixture against Downs having not lost at home since September 2022, but all their games were played at Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne, unfortunately they missed the atmosphere of their stadium due to renovation and had to play at MKO Abiola Sports Arena which is one hour in between.

Downs took advantage of that and put five goals setting a mountain to climb for Stars in the second leg. The NPFL champions believe they can score four goals against Sundowns in their return leg and progress to the group stages.
“We respect Sundowns; they are one of the best teams in Africa, and you could see their quality today, but we’ll take lessons from this defeat. The boys gave everything, and we’ll correct our mistakes before the return leg,” Conde told Sport247.
“This is football, sometimes you lose to learn. We’ll review our performance, fix our defensive lapses, and approach the second leg with a better mentality. Overturning a four-goal deficit is tough, but not impossible.
“We are a young team still finding our rhythm at this level. This is part of our growth process, and we’ll come back stronger, ” he concluded.
