Mamelodi Sundowns co-coach Rulani Mokwena has praised Al Ahly’s Pitso Mosimane despite Masandawana completing a historic double over the African champions.
Mokwena faced his former mentor on the sidelines recently, even though he was suspended for the second leg as Downs celebrated a historic double over Al Ahly.
Mokwena, though, insisted the Club of the Century in good hands, despite the historic defeat to Sundowns.
“Pitso Mosimane coped well with the pressure of the matches, the Red Devils are in good hands with this man,” he told Mehwar TV, as cited by Kingfut.
“All teams have flaws, and if you ask any coach they will confirm that Sundowns needs improvement and there is still a lot to work for us to do. I have a lot of respect for Al Ahly and Mosimane.”
Mokwena also discussed topping a group with Al Ahly as well as Sudanese sides Al Merrikh and Al Hilal Omdurman and stated that consistency can win Downs the CAFCL this season.
“I’m very proud to work with this group of players at Sundowns, and I knew it was a tough group,” he added.
“We have a young team and I knew that we had to be competitive until the end. In order to win this tournament, we must have one thing and that is consistency.”
