Former Orlando Pirates winger Tlou Segolela has backed Mamelodi Sundowns to edge Pyramids FC to the 2025 CAF Champions League title because of their experience.
The 2016 champions are in their first final in nine years in the continental inter-club competition while this is the Egyptian side’s maiden appearance in the final, having made their debut last year where they were knocked out at the group stage.
For Sundowns they have endured elimination in the knockout stages and in the last two seasons at the semi-finals.
Segolela, who has played in a Champions League final with Pirates in 2013, spoke to iDiski Times senior writer Matshelane Mamabolo in edition 205 of the newspaper where he noted areas where the Egyptians could pose a challenge to Sundowns over two legs of the tie.
However the Magesi FC DDC coach is confident the Betway Premiership champions will be victorious.
“I think Sundowns are favourites for this one,” Segolela told IDiski Times.
“They are much more experienced than Pyramids. Also, I expect that Pyramids will play an open game, which should suit Sundowns.
“The Egyptian team is very strong aerially, and they will also rely on their physicality to frustrate Sundowns, but I expect Sundowns to be able to deal with all that.
“My prediction is for Sundowns to add that second star.”
