Sundowns Into CAFWCL Semis

Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies will face Malabo Kings in the semi-finals of the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s League. The South African champions secured a spot in the knockout phase with a goalless draw against Morocco’s ASFAR in their final group B match on Friday.

ASFAR also booked their semi-final spot after Rivers Angels beat Vihiga Queens 4-0 in the other group game

The result meant that Sundowns finished top of Group B with seven points and are yet to concede a goal in the tournament.

The match started well with Jerry Tshabalala’s charges getting some chances early on Rhoda Muluadzi’s cross had found Andisiwe Mgcoyi but she headed into the keeper’s hands.

One of the clearest chances for the Hollywoodbets log leaders was a Boitumelo Rabale free-kick from range which was denied by the cross bar in the first half.

The Moroccans didn’t sit back as Sana Mssoudy almost found an opener but landed the ball on top of the net.

There were some nervy moments for the returning Andile Dlamini in the first and second halves however she dealt with them.

Meanwhile the other semi-final is between Hassacas Ladies who finished top of group A with seven points and ASFAR who finished second in Group B with four points. Both semi-finals will be played on 16 November 2021.
