Sundowns Sail Into Semis
Mamelodi Sundowns wrapped up Group A in the CAF Women’s Champions League Cosafa qualifiers, by beating Manzini Wanderers 6-1.
Sundowns had already qualified for the semi-finals of the Cosafa qualifying regional tournament with victories in their opening two games.
Chantelle Esau put Sundowns up in the tenth minute from the penalty spot, before adding her second in the 27th minute from a free kick.
Lelona Daweti made it three in the 35th minute, to give Sundowns a comfortable 3-0 lead at the break.
Ten minutes into the second half Thembelihle Masibi extended the lead, before Daweti had her brace in the 57th minute to make it 5-0
Wanderers became the first team to score a goal against Sundowns in this competition when Sanga scored in the 68th minute.
Khunjolwa Mali made it 6-1 in the 73rd minute, as Sundowns hit the six goal mark in their third successive game.
Sundowns will play the runner up from Group B later in the week in the semi-finals. The winner of this tournament progresses to the eight team CAF Champions League finals tournament.
