Downs were drawn to play the first leg at home, with the second leg taking place at the Stade du 26 Mars in Bamako on Sunday, March 22.
The last time Sundowns played the CAFCL quarterfinal first leg at home was in the 2018/19 season, when they hammered Al Ahly SC of Egypt 5-0 before losing the second leg 1-0 and advancing to the semi-finals with a 5-1 aggregate score.
With a great run of form in the league, Sundowns have won seven consecutive league matches and are level on points with Orlando Pirates at the top.
Sundowns will take on Malien minus the pace of Thapelo Morena down the right wing.
The speedy versatile Morena suffered a knock in their 2-0 win over ORBIT College in the Betway Premiership on Tuesday.
This is the first time they are facing Les Blancs de Bamako, and they hope to take home ground advantage before traveling to Mali. Kickoff is at 8pm.
