Sundowns Want CAFWCL Semi Spot
Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Jerry Tshabalala says they will be going for all three points when they face AS FAR in their final group game at the CAF Women’s Champions League finals in Egypt.
Sundowns are currently top of their group and only need a draw to book their spot in the semi-finals after winning their first two games.
He explained they have studied the rules, and know the permutations should they lose, with the possibility of three teams ending on six points.
“We familiarized ourself with the rules,” Tshabalala told iDiski Times.
“We have learned from the previous teams, especially our senior team. So we can’t go to this kind of tournament without going through the rules to make sure what’s gonna happen.
“Should it truly pan out the way it panned out for the national team, Bafana Bafana, we really read it, the rules, and we happy with that situation.”
However, Tshabalala also says the team want to go through with a win, and have been preparing the team for that.
“Yes, the group, it’s wide open, we don’t see ourself defending, we really happy in terms of us meeting a team that plays an open game, like, ASFAR, most of the games they have shown that there are certain aspects of the game where they are vulnerable.
“I think if we could apply ourselves better, and capitalise on their weaknesses like we did today at training, where I was showing the players which bases that they are vulnerable in and we can we can expose and try to close them down, especially in the middle.
“So we were not going to sit back. We don’t want a point, we want full three points.
“So (tomorrow’s) team you you would see a bit of changes there and there, that means we want all three points.”
