Former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Benedict Vilakazi reckons that head coach Miguel Cardoso needs to drop Arthur Sales for Themba Zwane if they want to win the CAF Champions League title.
It had looked like Lucas Ribeiro’s goal would be enough for the South African champions to bag maximum points and advantage but had their hearts broken at the death in their back yard courtesy of Walid El Karti’s 94th-minute equalizer.
The Egyptian side, who are playing in their maiden final of the competition, need just a goalless draw to lift the trophy at the 30 June stadium this coming weekend.
‘Tso’ believes all is not lost for Sundowns, but it will depend on coach Miguel Cardoso’s selection for the second leg match if they are successful.
“Sundowns is still in the game it’s up to the coach,” said Tso on iDiski TV.
“If the coach wants to win the CAF final, it’s easier for him very, very easy. Just take out [Arthur] Sales for the next game. Take out Sales and then you put in Mshishi [Themba Zwane], put in [Lucas] Ribeiro, and then say [Iqraam] Rayners, stay there.
“Put Mshishi and Ribiero just behind Rayners and then have three midfielders so that we can play because if you don’t have Ribeiro and Mshishi playing in those pockets then they are going to lose. “
