Zwane Gives Update On Chiefs Squad
Kaizer Chiefs interim coach Arthur Zwane has given an update on the availability of Chiefs players ahead of the CAF Champions League final.
The Glamour Boys jetted out to Morocco on Wednesday, departing OR Tambo airport before lunch.
They are now on their way to Casablanca, with Zwane expected to lead the team in the final, while Stuart Baxter is still awaiting his work permit.
Zwane spoke to iDiski Times senior writer Velile Mnyandu this week before the team departed and confirmed that they are hoping to have “almost everyone available” for the clash with Pitso Mosimane’s Al Ahly.
“We’re almost in the same situation until maybe the last day (with) the selection, because at the moment, we don’t know who’s gonna be available, who’s not gonna be available,” he said told iDiski Times.
“Knowing the dynamics of the pandemic, we still have to travel, so as long as we’re still preparing anything can happen at any given time.
“But with the hope, praying as well, that we have almost everyone available for the big one.”
Chiefs communications officer Vina Maphosa had already confirmed that the club will only give an official update about their squad on the day before the final.
Zwane also spoke about the mood in the camp, what he thinks of coach Pitso Mosimane and his own experience in the 2001 CAF African Cup Winners’ Cup when Chiefs won their only continental trophy to date.
