Kaze Gives Update On Dortley, Sirino, Cele, Frosler & Co.

Kaizer Chiefs co-coach Cedric Kaze has provided an update on the injury status of his players ahead of their upcoming CAF group stage clash against Zesco United.

Amakhosi faced Zesco United last weekend in Zambia and secured maximum points away from home, thanks to a decisive strike from Pule Mmodi.

The two sides are set to meet again in their fourth group stage encounter on Sunday, 01 February, at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.

Kaze expressed his satisfaction with the availability of Gaston Sirino, who is fit and ready for selection.

However, he confirmed that George Matlou, Thabo Cele, Bradley Cross, Sibongiseni Mthethwa, and goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari remain sidelined due to injury and will miss the match.

The Chiefs co-coach also revealed that Reeve Frosler recently went under the knife while defender Rushwin Dortley is still undergoing rehabilitation and will be assessed in the next two weeks. The medical team will then determine whether he is ready to return to full training with the squad.

“George came back yesterday to full training, but he hasn’t been with the squad for the last four weeks, which rules him out of tomorrow’s game,” said Kaze.

“[Thabo] Cele is still out, [Bradley] Cross still out, Ox [Sibongiseni Mthethwa] is out, Reeve went under surgery, he’s gonna be out for quite some time, Fiacre is not back too but within a week, he’ll resume training as he’s now walking on the side.

“Dortley has a long-time injury, but his condition has improved a lot cause there was some complications around November which has been corrected.

“We hope that in next two weeks, he will test if he’s gonna be allowed to start training. We are hopeful, he’ll pass that test.

“We’re happy Sirino is back, Lilepo is back. Experience will add more quality.”
