Maboe On Al-Masry Clash

Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Lebohang Maboe has expressed his confidence in his side ahead of their CAF Confederation Cup group stage opener in Egypt.

Amakhosi are set to lock horns with Al-Masry at the Suez Stadium, starting at 18:00.

Although Maboe acknowledges the challenge of playing away from home, he insists the team is geared up for the battle, stressing that Chiefs are not going to Egypt just to fill the fixture – they intend to push hard for victory.

“We are about to embark on a very important journey. We have looked sharp in training and are all ‘amped up’ for the game on Sunday,” Maboe told Chiefs media team.

“Given that it’s an away game, we expect a tough, physical challenge but we know the importance of getting off to a good start so we are going there to get something, not just make up numbers.

“Al Masry are a good side with a well-defined shape, using a diamond midfield and wing-backs, plus two mobile strikers up front.

“We are aware that we’ll have to be at our best against them on their home turf but we believe in ourselves and are looking forward to the test.”
