Kaizer Chiefs attacking midfielder Mduduzi Shabalala has opened up about reaching 100 appearances for the club.
The 22-year-old made his 100th appearance when Amakhosi beat Zesco United 1-0 in the CAF Confederation Cup at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
He got his first-team debut against the now-defunct Moroka Swallows in May 2022 after graduating from the reserve side.
In his 100 matches for the club, he has scored 11 goals and registered six assists.
Shabalala expressed gratitude to the club for giving him the opportunity to showcase his talent, admitting that the journey has not been an easy one.
“It means a lot to me, because it was a dream also to me to play for this club when I was young,” said Shabalala.
“And I’m happy that the club has given me an opportunity to showcase my talent even though it hasn’t been easy but I’m happy for the opportunity.”
Speaking about the three competitions they are involved in during the second half of the season, Shabalala said the team is taking it one game at a time rather than focusing on the prospect of winning three trophies.
“To us as Chiefs players, we take one game at a time, we don’t focus on what competitions are left,” added Shabalala.
“We take each game as important, do our best. We hope that when the season ends, we can take one thing.”
