Miguel Reacts To Chiefs’ CAFCC Group Stage Draw

Kaizer Chiefs defender Inacio Miguel admits their CAF Confed Cup group stage will be difficult, but they are up to the challenge as they are “one of the biggest teams on the continent”.

Chiefs were pitted in Group D against Egyptian sides Zamalek and Al Masry, and ZESCO United of Zambia. The Naturena-based outfit have already had two challenging preliminary rounds in the tournament and will now have to travel to the North twice and have fairly easy travel to Lusaka.

Miguel admitted that competition will be tough but as one of the best in Africa they are up for the challenge.

“Of course it is difficult you know why, because we are in the middle of the best teams in Africa,” said Miguel.

“So of course any team that we’ll face right now it will be a difficult game. But as I said before we are Kaizer Chiefs we are one of the biggest clubs in Africa, so I think we are ready for the next challenge.”

The 29-year-old is also confident in the depth in the squad this season adding that management has done a good job this term with recruitment to withstand all the competitions including the travelling.

“I think that this season the board, the coaches they were very smart in terms of building the deepest squad than last season to be able to manage these two competitions, three, if we could have been able to go further in the cup,” added the Angolan.

“So, I think this season we have more chances to rotate the players, to understand and make big travels to these CAF games. So, I think we have a deep squad to make these changes if they are needed.”
