Ncikazi Gives Update On Mako

Orlando Pirates co-coach Mandla Ncikazi has revealed that Paseka Mako is recovering well and will be able to play football again after his horror injury following a collision with Richard Ofori.

The Buccaneers defender collided with his own goalkeeper in goalless draw with Baroka as both players only had eyes on the ball, leaving Mako unconscious for a while.

However, the player was stabilised and transported to hospital where it was confirmed that the player fractured his nose and face.

Mako has since left the hospital and was back at Orlando Stadium for his side’s CAF Confederations Cup match against Simba SC, watching his teammates beat the Tanzanian side on penalties.

Ncikazi confirmed after the match that Mako might not play again this season but he’s just happy that the player survived the horror incident.

“Mako, I’m grateful. He even slept at my place, he visited me, so he is recovering,” he told reporters.

“God is good, it could’ve been worse.

“I don’t think we’ll see him this season, but I’m just happy that he’s alive, healthy and he’ll play football again.”
