Orlando Pirates co-assistant coach Mandla Ncikazi has reacted to his side’s draw in the CAF Confederations League against MSC Diables Noirs.
The 52-year-old saw his side being held to a goalless draw in the second preliminary round first leg at Stade Alphonse Massemba-Débat Stadium on Friday afternoon.
Ncikazi insisted he’ll take the point away from home, saying he was happy with his side’s performance.
“Based on the conditions that we faced in Congo/Brazzaville, let’s take the take the point, take the performance of the players,” he said after the match.
“The conditions, the astro turf and how the opponents treated us, the character of our players we have to appreciate. Let’s take the point, we’re not done yet.
“Remember that if they score at home, there is a problem. But I think we have the capacity to beat this opponent when we play at home. I’m happy with the performance today and the application of the players.”
Ncikazi also believes that his side have got what it takes to beat Noirs when they come to Orlando Stadium next weekend.
“They’re just a direct team, they’re playing to get in behind the defence, they’re playing to play crosses, they have dribblers on the site to put a cross,” he added.
“They’re still with their threat inside the penalty area but again when we have the ball Pirates must play.
“If we do that and we’re competitive on the ball, we’ll get the result.”
