Orlando Pirates winger Oswin Appollis has revealed he will share his R100 000 Man of the Match cheque with Mbekezeli Mbokazi after his wonder goal against Siwelele FC.
Appollis was voted Man of the Match by the fans, despite leaving the pitch after 79 minutes before Mbokazi’s moment of magic.
The Pirates captain carried the ball forward before hitting it right in the top corner from far out. After the match, Appollis admitted that his teammate would’ve deserved the Man of the Match gong.
“We had to fight hard today, it wasn’t easy,” he told SuperSport TV.
“What a brilliant goal from Mbokazi. To be honest, I think he deserved it [Man of the Match] more today, because he was fighting and defending.”
When asked whether he’ll share the massive amount of prize money, Appollis didn’t think twice.
“No, I’ll definitely have to cut because what a goal. I’ll definitely share with him,” he replied.
Appollis admitted it was a difficult game and his side are happy to have collected their eighth successive win ahead of the international break.
“It was difficult today but we knew that we would get a chance. Like I said what an amazing goal. Congratulations to the bench, the whole team fought today,” he added.
“We are happy that we got the victory.”
