Baartman Named In Spurs Squad To Face Pirates

Cape Town Spurs’ DStv Diski Challenge top goalscorer Luke ‘Boere’ Baartman will be travelling with the club to Johannesburg for the Carling Knockout Cup clash against Orlando Pirates.

Baartman, 17, has been the main talking point from Spurs’ DDC side after starting the season on a high note, scoring six goals in his first five matches.

Boere, as he is affectionally known, scored a crucial goal for Spurs’ U18 against Matroosfontein FC this past weekend, as Spurs clinched the Coke Cup by 2-1 win at Athlone Stadium.

The South African U17 striker has been training with Spurs first-team in the past few weeks and he was given a few minutes in a friendly match against Cape Town City a week ago.

Information gathered by iDiski Times is that Baartman will be travelling with Spurs’ first-team for the first time this season and he is likely to make his debut against Pirates in the Carling Knockout Cup round of 16.

The Urban Warriors haven’t won a single official match since making their return to the DStv Premiership.

Sean Connor and Vasili Manousakis hope to turn things but face a daunting task against newly-crowned MTN8 champions at Orlando Stadium on Friday.
