Sekhukhune United defender Daniel Cardoso says his side spurned a massive opportunity to win silverware in the Carling Knockout.
Ba Bina Noko lost 4-2 to TS Galaxy on penalties in the quarter-final after the match finished goalless 120 minutes in Limpopo’s capital on Saturday.
The home side had a few chances to put the game away but let them go to waste.
The last 16 round and quarter-final round saw the big teams get knocked with Orlando Pirates being the last big side to bow out against Richards Bay on Saturday.
Having reached the final of the Nedbank Cup last season United had fancied themselves to go all the way in this tournament. Cardoso who was the captain on the night admitted it was a missed opportunity however they had to put it behind them.
“Yeah a bitter pill to swallow,” said Cardoso.
“All the big teams out and smaller teams going through it was a big opportunity for us to go into a cup final.
“I mean we went all the way last year in Nedbank but like the coach said we got to put it behind we got a game on Tuesday and we just got to sort out a few things in the team
“As he said the mental state of some players…and we’ll go back and watch our game, watch what we did right, what we did wrong.
“And well done to TS Galaxy good luck to them in the next round but yeah we carry on. We go on Tuesday again.”
