The draw for this year’s Carling Knockout Cup Round of 16 took place this evening, and has given us some enticing clashes.
The tournament is in it’s fourth year after the former Telkom Knockout was brought back to life by Carling Black Label.
The 2023 edition was won by Stellenbosch FC – the club’s first ever trophy, while a year later Magesi surprised everyone and secured their first official silverware.
Last season, Orlando Pirates beat Marumo Gallants 2-0 in the final, as they went on to secure a domestic treble.
The winners of the Carling Knockout will take on a PSL All Star XI, made up of PSL players and DStv Diski Challenge stars voted by fans, in the so-called Carling Black Label Cup.
But first, the Carling Knockout will kick off with the Round of 16 on 24 October.
The top eight teams of last year’s Betway Premiership were seeded, and randomly drawn against the unseeded teams from the bottom half of the table.
