Elvis Chipezeze has insisted putting a smile on the faces of Magesi FC fans is more important that his R400.000 prize money for his four Man of the Match awards.
The Magesi goalkeeper was again the standout performer for his side, denying Mamelodi Sundowns with several crucial saves in their shock 2-1 win.
His fine performance earned him a fourth R100.000 cheque, but he insisted making the fans fans happy was his main priority.
“I’m just grateful to the fans, these people they pay their hard-earned money to come and watch us play,” he said on SuperSport TV.
“At the end of the day we have to return the favour to them, giving performances like today.
“As long as they’re smiling I’m happy.
“We knew they’ve got six players coming from Bafana Bafana, quality players, we know that – Ribeiro, Allende, Shalulile,”
“We just thought it’s a one-off game, anything can happen. We just gonna go there to create history.
“We just keep the low-block, they’re under pressure. We just came into this game, knowing we’re the underdogs, no one expected us to win to be quite frank.
“But credit must go tot he boys. Coach has been drilling us, drilling us sometimes we felt like giving up, but these are the results you see today.
“Personal accolades might come but I have to make sure that the fans are happy all the time.”
