Kaizer Chiefs head coach Fernando Da Cruz believes the Carling Knockout Cup Round of 16 draw against TS Galaxy is a “good draw” and that they will prepare accordingly to seal passage into the next round.

Amakhosi have already lost out on silverware this campaign after suffering a first-round MTN8 elimination to Golden Arrows extending their failure to capture the Wafa Wafa competition to over a decade having last won it under Stuart Baxter in 2014/15.

The last time Amakhosi reached the final of the Carling Knockout Cup was back in 2015/16 as they suffered a heavy defeat 3-1 defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns when it was still the Telkom Knockout Cup.

The French tactician did not have any complaints about the draw, in fact, insisting it was not the worst draw they could’ve got.

“It’s a good draw because we’ll be at home. It was very important to play at home given that it is between our CAF game [CAF Confederation Cup, second preliminary round against Red Arrows of Zambia] and the Soweto Derby [against Orlando Pirates in the Betway Premiership],” he told the club’s website.

“They will be difficult opponents, and we expect a tough game but it’s also not the worst draw we could have got.

“We respect them and will prepare accordingly. We’ll know at the end of the match whether it was a good draw or not. We will only have four days to prepare for it after our home leg in the CAF tie against Red Arrows.

“We have analysis on TS Galaxy, and we will come up with our own game-plan that will hopefully take us through to the next round.”
