Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Cedric Kaze has revealed that goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari’s surprise inclusion was a decision made at the start of the season.
The Rwandan international makes his first start of the campaign since November 2024 having deputised for both Bruce Bvuma and Brandon Petersen, with the latter having seen out all of Chiefs’ games this season.
Ahead of this afternoon’s mouthwatering last 16 Carling Knockout Cup clash against Stellenbosch FC, Kaze explained that it was a decision already made by the club at the beginning of the season to give Ntwari game time as well.
“No, it’s just that it’s something that was agreed since the beginning of the season that Fiacre will play the Carling Cup,” he told SuperSport TV.
“He has been training tremendously well. Has played very, very good games with his national team.
“It’s a player the club really like and we see how he trains everyday and it’s just as well that we need to give an opportunity to him as well to show what he’s capable of.”
