Mamelodi Sundowns coach Manqoba Mngqithi has shrugged off scrutiny directed towards him after their shock Carling Knockout Cup final upset, as he believes they are still heading in the right direction.
Sundowns came into the clash as clear favourites to lift their first piece of silverware of the season and took the lead in the 36th minute through Iqraam Rayners.
Magesi FC however continued to live up to their giantslaying tag, rallying back with goals from Tshepo Kakora in the 48th minute before Delano Abrahams wrapped it up in the 87th minute for their historic win.
Mngqithi was not surprised with the criticism saying it’s something one will expect being a coach but in the same breath added that they are on the right path in what they want to achieve this season.
“You must expect anything,” Mngqithi told #PrimeSportsWithMahlatse.
“If you choose to be a coach, you must expect that in this space, our jobs are always under scrutiny every week. Every week, we have to deliver.

“It’s unlike a CEO of a company who has to come at the end of the financial year. With us football coaches, it’s always going to be,’Where are we going?’, ‘Are we going towards the right direction?’
“I’m still very optimistic we are going the right direction.”
