Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has confirmed that George Matlou and Mduduzi Mdantsane are back in team training, while Mfundo Vilakazi didn’t pick up a serious injury.
In July, Chiefs had announced that Mdantsane had suffered a broken jaw after being involved in motor vehicle accident, and was said to be sidelined for three months.
Meanwhile, Matlou needed knee surgery and has been on the mend since last season. However, Nabi confirmed that both players are back in team training but will take time to return to full fitness.
“It’s true that those players have been injured for quite some time, all of them are done with the injury, and now recovering, integrating with the group, training but we need to be careful how we integrate them,” he said on Thursday.
“Matlou has been out for like a year, we need to give them time to train, get fitness up and get time to play friendly games, being back their preparedness and get connected with teammates again before incorporating them in official matches again.”
Nabi also eased fears that teenage sensation Mfundo Vilakazi picked up a serious injury after he had to leave the field limping in the 2-2 draw with Magesi.
“Mfundo, we don’t believe that it’s an injury. It was just cramps from fatigue. He ran a lot and we believe he will be fine,” Nabi had stated after the match.
