Orlando Pirates and Cape Town Spurs confirmed their starting lineup for this evening’s Carling Knockout round of 16 clash at Orlando Stadium.
It’s been two weeks since Pirates clinched MTN8 trophy beating Mamelodi Sundowns 3-1 on penalties. Buccaneers have another chance to clinch yet another trophy before the year 2023 ends but their journey starts against struggling Spurs.
If the Soweto giants are to book a place in the next round, they will have to do it without their wonder kid Rebohile Mafokeng who is in England on trials at Wolves. Jose Riveiro has already won three trophies as Pirates coach, and he is looking to clinch this one.
Meanwhile, struggling Spurs will look to turn things around this evening and book a place into the next round. The Urban Warriors lost eight out eight matches in the DStv Premiership.
This match might be a big confidence boast for them should they win it. The new technical team of Sean Conor and Vasili Manousakis will have to dig deep if they are to win the clash as Pirates only lost one tournament match in two 13 months which was against Stellenbosch in MTN8.
