Mamelodi Sundowns winger Lucas Ribeiro has explained why he used his cheeky panenka penalty against Marumo Gallants.
Ribeiro, 26, once again played a key role for his side, scoring the 1-0 opener from the penalty spot against Washington Arubi.
The opposition goalkeeper tried to intimidate the Brazilian before he took the spot-kick, but Ribeiro stayed calm and chipped it over the keeper.
After the 2-0 win, he explained that Williams advised him to go through the middle if he gets a chance from the spot.
“It was a difficult game,” he said on SuperSport TV.
“The opponent did very well, they were very compact and it was difficult to find space. But we are happy we made it to the final.
“When it comes to the penalty, I spoke to Ronza at training and he said maybe you could try that in the game.
“So I’m very happy.”
