Orlando Pirates head coach Jose Riveiro said it is difficult to explain why his team were unable to win against Richards Bay in regulation time as they lost on penalties in the Carling Knockout Cup last eight.
It ended goalless after 120 minutes, and while Pirates dominated the fixture, they were unable to make in-roads against a spirited Bay side.
Riveiro, while congratulating Kaitano Tembo’s team on progressing, found his team’s lack of goals hard to explain.
“Not easy to explain again,” Riveiro told SuperSport after the match.
“120 minutes on the ball trying but not scoring and going to the penalties and today we were not the lucky one.
“Congratulations to Richards Bay and trying to think about the next one as soon as possible.
Riveiro said there wasn’t much he could suggest for them to do better, other than be more efficient in the final third.
“There’s not many things that you can do better,” he said.
“It’s about be a bit more confident maybe in the last metres. What we’re talking about is an old story, I don’t want to repeat myself.
“Like I said a few weeks ago, I think we’re doing a lot of things very well but so far it is not enough to win against.”
