Tso – Magesi’s Final Was Against Pirates

iDiski TV analyst Benedict Vilakazi admits to being humbled by results of the Carling Knockout Cup final where Magesi FC beat Mamelodi Sundowns to lift the trophy.

The Limpopo side came from a goal down to stun the star-studded Sundowns in Bloemfontein, completing a fairy-tale run in the cup, with ‘Tso’ admitting he was one of the pundits that didn’t give Clinton Larsen’s charges a chance.

The 42-year-old added that he also knew at the back of his mind that having beaten Orlando Pirates, Magesi could cause another big upset.

“Well done to coach Clinton Larsen and his technical team, Jacky Ledwaba, Papi Zothwane and the team, they did very well,” said Tso on iDiski TV.

“No one gave them a chance and I was one of those who didn’t give them a chance. The quality that Sundowns has I didn’t really think that it would go this far but there’s one thing that I said in my prediction. I said Magesi have played a final before the final when they beat Orlando Pirates, that was their final and now it was just a matter of formalities. I said that not knowing they’d go on to win 2-1.

“That was not a very interesting game but it was a game I expected because I have been watching Magesi, how they play, how they organise themselves and I said they are going to frustrate Sundowns.

“Coach [Larsen] stuck to his planning I mean his game plan for me worked very well. When you look at the stats, it’s exactly how it happened against Pirates where Magesi had three shots on target and those shots were goals.

“It means his plan is working very well, that I’ll wait, absorb the pressure but when I get that opportunity I’ll strike.”
