We Are Knocking Very Loud- Steve Barker

Stellenbosch FC head coach Steve Barker is pleased that his side has reached their third successive Cup semi-final in six months.

Stellies defeated Polokwane City 2-0 in the Carling Knockout Cup in Limpopo’s capital on Friday evening to reach their third semi-final following appearances in the Nedbank Cup last season and the MTN 8 earlier this season.

Barker’s side lost 4-3 on penalties against Sekhukhune United after a goalless draw in regulation time to miss their first final, then drew 2-2 on aggregate with eventually MTN 8 winners Orlando Pirates this season.

Barker says this time around his side must learn from the previous two appearances to try and jump the hurdle.

“I think we must learn from our two previous semi-finals, you know one went to penalties and one went on away goal” said Barker after the quarterfinal.

“So having reached the semi-final three times in this calendar year you can only keep knocking on the door and you keep knocking on the door and the door will eventually open.

“So we are knocking on the door and we are knocking very loud so you know, let’s see what the draw holds for us Monday. But yeah third time this year hopefully it will be our time.”
