Mamelodi Sundowns DStv Diski Challenge head coach Sinethemba Badela wants youngsters to fight for their place in the first team.
Sinethemba Badela has been impressive in his first season in the DDC as he kept Masandawana closer to the league title after closing the gap on top to one point.
The technocrat still believes they have to do more as the Sundowns DDC team and make sure those players like Remotsei Keabetswa and Siyabonga Mabena fight for their place in the senior despite the talent that is there.
“It’s important. Also it tells the other guys that are here ‘you can do it’. But obviously it’s not something that we like, we want them to stay there and fight for their places,” Badela told iDiski Times.
“But if they not getting minutes in the senior team, where else should they be getting minutes, because otherwise they’re just training and not getting minutes and they need to get minutes.
“Mabena also comes, you see he’s got cramps. It’s something that’s been happening but if you look at the history since he got promoted, how many games has he played so he missed out on U19.
“He played, four games last season, I stand to be corrected. So that’s why when he comes here, he gets minutes.
“That’s what we’re trying to do, we’re trying to make sure we get these players as ready as possible for senior team.”
The DDC returns to Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium for another festival this weekend, with Sundowns facing Golden Arrows on Saturday.
