The DStv Diski Challenge returns for a special derby weekend, with Tshwane Derby on Saturday followed by a Cape Derby and the Soweto derby on Sunday.
Mamelodi Sundowns have a chance to extend their lead at the top of the log, when they face defending champions SuperSport United on Saturday.
They can put pressure on second-placed Stellenbosch FC and third-placed Orlando Pirates. Sundowns are currently sitting at the top of the table with 50 points, two points clear second-placed Stellies and four ahead of Pirates, who’ve dropped off the pace a little.
In Sunday’s Cape Derby, Stellenbosch have no other choice but to make sure they keep putting pressure on Sundowns, but they will have to beat their rivals Cape Town Spurs. The in-form Cape Winelands side have 48 points sitting second place and will hope to repeat their 2-0 win from the first round.
The weekend will be closed by a much-anticipated Soweto Derby between Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates. The Buccaneers aim to bounce back to winning ways after dropping five points in their last two games against Spurs and TS Galaxy. Chiefs who are nine points behind Downs have a slight chance for the title but would need to be near perfect and a lot of other results between now and the end of the season go their way.
It is given that we will see a lot of new faces in this DDC festival at Tsakane Stadium this weekend, with a number of players called up to the South African U20 camp.
See you at the DDC Festival at Tsakane Stadium – the Derby edition.
