Bucs To Hurt Stellies In DDC Title Race?

The DStv Diski Challenge title race could swing in Mamelodi Sundowns’ favour this weekend, as second-placed Stellenbosch FC are facing third-placed Orlando Pirates.

The weekend starts with Kaizer Chiefs welcoming struggling Polokwane City at Dobsonville Stadium. Chiefs are not entirely out of the title race yet, but will have to close their gap to six points before Sundowns play on Sunday.

Solomon Mahlangu Stadium will host the DDC on Sunday morning when second-placed Stellenbosch battles with third-place Pirates. The Cape Winelands side have been in good form having won six of their last seven matches to close their gap to Sundowns to just two points.

Meanwhile, the Buccaneers aim to keep their title hopes alive after struggling in recent weeks. Joseph Makhanya’s side will also want to avoid being beaten twice by Stellies.

With four games to go after this match, the Bucs who are seven points behind the top know anything less than a will all but end their title hopes.

Sundowns will close the festival on Sunday at Solomon Mahlangu Stadium, and could find themselves in second place at kick-off, if Stellies can beat Pirates.

But they could also start the game with a bit of an advantage, if Stellies fail to win against Pirates.

Meanwhile, Cape Town City, who are the only team to score eight goals twice this season, have a task against Lamontville Golden Arrows away from home.
