Chiefs Legend Denied Win In DDC, Pirates Draw Again

Kaizer Chiefs legend Bernard Parker started his reign as TS Galaxy reserves head coach with a 1-1 draw against SuperSport United in the DStv Diski Challenge at the Solomon Mahlangu Stadium in Mpumalanga on Saturday afternoon.

The Rockets opened the scoring via Regomoditswe Modikoe’s far post curler in the 25th minute but Shamir Matera unleashed a thunderous free kick past a hapless Gallio Pieterson in the 50th minute for the equalizer.

In the earlier fixture of the day at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium, Magesi and AmaZulu, who are still in search of maximum points this term, played to a dull 0-0 draw after also picking up just a single point in their opening fixtures.

Orlando Pirates came agonisingly close to a win against table-toppers Cape Town City but were pegged back as the entertaining affair ended 2-2. Man-of-the-Match Shakeel April found his way past Ethan Visagie to make it 1-0 in the 15th minute. Bucs captain Mbekezeli Mbokazi then tapped in from close range to level matters in the 20th minute before Siphamandoa Msezana handed Pirates the lead with a sweat strike in the 23rd minute. April bagged his brace in 68th minute as the sides shared the spoils.
