Cape Town City have appointed Hout Bay United FC coach Borja Herranz as their new DStv Diski Challenge head coach after the departure of Moritz Kossmann.
Kossmann left City after one season as the head coach of the club’s reserve side, where he had led the team to a fifth-place finish, to officially join Austrian side SV Ried.
Herranz is a young Spanish coach, who grew up in Madrid and coached in the Spanish fourth division, having also worked at Fleetwood FC’s academy in England.
Intel reaching this publication is that City have appointed Herranz as the head coach of the DDC side for the upcoming season. Former Orlando Pirates and City winger Mark Mayambela, and Byron Cottle will also form part of the technical team.
Mayambela and Cottle are familiar with the DDC league as they have been in this position before having helped the side towards the end of 2022/23 season when Ian Taylor was released from his job.
