Orlando Pirates reserve team head coach Joseph Makhanya was left unhappy with the match-officiating in the loss against their rivals Kaizer Chiefs.
Pirates suffered their third defeat of the season, which dented their title hopes as they remained in eighth in the league table and 10 points behind league leaders Stellenbosch FC.
Pirates scored first in the 75th minute, but Chiefs quickly equalised via a penalty which Aiden McCarthy converted, while Nkosana Mbuthu scored the late winner to steal the show.
But Makhanya was very unhappy with the penalty call when he spoke with SuperSport TV after the game.
“It was a game with balance; there are moments that were decided by the referee to make sure he would turn the game around and make sure it swung to the other direction,” Makhanya said.
“But credit to my boys, they worked well; they stuck to the plan, they worked very hard, but again it’s dissatisfaction when kids work so hard, and certain people try to have the influence into the game, it’s something they need to work on it.
“This is junior football they need to learn certain things, especially balancing the game. They must make sure the officiate the correct things.”
