Makhanya Gives Mokone Update

Orlando Pirates DStv Diski Challenge head coach Joseph Makhanya says he felt the absence of the right-back sensation Jabulani Mokone in their 1-0 defeat against Stellenbosch FC.

Mokone recently represented DDC and Pirates at the higher level of Carling Black Label Cup, where he was part of the PSL All Stars team which clinched the title after beating Stellenbosch 2-1 in Polokwane.

Mokone has been in great form since joining Bucs’ DDC team and has been a reliable feature in coach Joseph Makhanya’s side.

But last weekend he was substituted in the first half against Lamontville Golden Arrows after picking up an injury.

Duku-Duku admitted that they really missed him against Stellenbosch, as they couldn’t deal with the pace and transition play of Stellies.

“If you can check we had to play a left-back in a right-back position, we feel like he did well but again we missed him [Jabulani Mokone]. He got an injury last time when we played against Arrows,” Makhanya told iDiski Times in Idas Valley.

“He is really missed, but again we were a bit solid that side, it was never a problem. I just felt on transition we should’ve done better.

When asked for how long Mokone will be sidelined, Makhanya wasn’t sure as they are still waiting for the results from the physios.

“I can’t tell, we are waiting for our physio to tell us how long he is going to take but we are hoping that he comes back a bit quicker,” he added.
