Joseph Makhanya’s Orlando Pirates extended their lead at the top of the DStv Diski Challenge to three points after Stellenbosch and Mamelodi Sundowns dropped points.
The second DDC festival in 2024 took place at Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium in KwaZulu-Natal, where Polokwane City registered their first win of the campaign beating Reneilwe Letsholonyane’s AmaZulu by a solitary goal.
Sundowns’ winless run extended to three matches after Stellenbosch held them to a 1-1 draw out at Lucas Moripe Stadium, and they have now conceded nine goals in three matches.
Pirates hammered Lamontville Golden Arrows by 3-0 with first-team starlet Relebohile Mofokeng on the scoresheet, meanwhile Jabulani Mokone left the game in pain after he got injured in the first half.
Teenage sensation Emile Witbooi, who recently signed for Cape Town City, made his debut and found the back of the net in a 4-3 win against Royal AM as City moved to fifth place.
Kaizer Chiefs closed the day and had to turn things around, as they were on five match winless run. Neo Bohloko and Siphesihle Tati ended the unwanted record for Amakhosi and moved them to fifth place.
