Stellies Stumble As Chiefs, Bucs & Downs Win In Goalfest DDC

This weekend’s DStv Diski Challenge produced an avalanche of goals as defending champions Stellenbosch FC suffered a setback against Orlando Pirates while Kaizer Chiefs, Mamelodi Sundowns & Cape Town City all won their respective ties. 

Following the win of Sundowns, Chiefs, and CT City yesterday, Stellies faced Pirates under massive pressure to deliver the three points. 

Stellenbosch opened the scoring just after halftime as Quwan Plaatjies was on the scoresheet to make it 1-0. 

With less than 20 minutes left, Mehluleli Maphumulo came from the bench to score two quick goals and sealed the three points for the Buccaneers. The win sends Pirates to fourth place and two points behind Stellenbosch. 

On the side, Bernard Parker’s TS Galaxy won their third match in a row beating Chippa United 2-1 at Kanyamazana Stadium. The Rockets moved to sixth place and four points behind Stellies. 

Polokwane City ended their three-match winless run by defeating Marumo Gallants 2-1 at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium.
