Dolly – What I Told Parker After Horror Injury

Kaizer Chiefs winger Keagan Dolly says he reached out to former teammate Bernard Parker after his horror injury last month.

Parker suffered the career-threatening injury following a challenge with Bongani Zungu when TS Galaxy faced off against Mamelodi Sundowns in the Carling Knockout Cup.

While the reaction to his red card was hotly debated, Parker appears to have undergone a successful surgery on his road to recovery but at the age of 37, there are doubts that he will return to the field of play this season.

“I think it’s part of football, there are quite a few injuries one can get and it will be harmless, someone wouldn’t want to intentionally try to hurt you,” Dolly said about his horrific leg break.

“But when I spoke to Bernard, it wasn’t a phone call, it was a message, trying to encourage him and giving him some words to come back stronger and telling him that South African football still needs him and there’s a better way to ending his career.”

Parker has scored three goals with four assists in 35 games for the Rockets since joining them after a decade at Amakhosi.
