Ex-AmaZulu Talent Spotted At Galaxy

Former AmaZulu defender Samkelo Mgwazela is currently training with TS Galaxy after leaving Usuthu.

Mgwazela recently left Usuthu after three years at the club. The 23-year-old joined AmaZulu from Golden Arrows DStv Diski Challenge squad in 2020.

The towering defender initially starred under the guidance of Benni McCarthy with 33 games in his first two seasons, however McCarthy’s exit saw him fall out of favour.

Last season, he failed to make a single appearance under Brandon Truter, Romain Folz and Ayanda Dlamini which led to his eventual release at the end of the season.

iDiskiTimes can confirm that Mgwazela is training with ‘The Rockets’ but head coach Sead Ramovic is yet to make a decision on the defender.

Galaxy had have lost Given Msimango, Ebrahim Seedat, Aphelele Teto, Masilake Phohlongo, and Melusi Buthelezi ahead of the new season, while Mgwazela’s former teammate Sandile Khumalo is also currently training with the Rockets.

They’ve concluded deals with Rwanda goalkeeper Ntwari Fiacre and former Marumo Gallants defensive duo Thato Khiba Mpho Mvelase ahead of the new season.
