Folz On Dion Addition: There’s No Place To Hide For Us

AmaZulu coach Romain Folz says there’s no place to hide when asked if he will have excuses at the club following the addition of Junior Dion from Marumo Gallants.

On top of Dion, Usuthu have signed Celimpilo Ngema on the pre-contract from Gallants and the midfielder will join the club at the beginning of next season when his contract expires with the Limpopo club.

These are players that Folz worked with at Gallants during his short spell with them at the beginning of the season.

The addition of Dion adds to a strong firepower up front for Usuthu with Lehlohonolo Majoro, Bongi Ntuli, Gabadinho Mhango and Augustine Kwem.

Folz, when asked if he has no excuses now and he has to deliver the goods because the club has done its best to give him the best strikers available in the league, he welcomed the addition.

“It is always good for a coach to have options and you can always play with the competition within your own squad and try to push them to the maximum level,” said Folz who is under pressure at the club as his contract will expire at the end of the season after he signed a short-term deal in October last year to replace Brandon Truter.

“If I can be completely realistic about the Kaizer Chiefs or Orlando Pirates, they have good quality as well in all the lines. So we are not going to hide behind that and we have quality just like other teams have quality.

“We will do our best to showcase the team that has quality in the best way and try to be the best team in every single occasion when we are out on the field of play.

“To answer your point, yes we have a good team, we have the capacity to be extremely solid and that is what we are aiming to do.”

The squad depth of AmaZulu that Folz has assembled will be put to the test when they take a short trip to visit Royal AM at Chatsworth Stadium on Sunday (15:30).

Folz has only won one match in his career in the PSL across his spells with Gallants and now with AmaZulu.

“Royal AM is a good team and we know we are a good team as well,” said Folz.

“The only thing I can say is that we want to win that game and that can lead us up in the table.

“We want to make sure that we secure that win and I want to see a collective performance from my team.”

Usuthu are positioned seventh in the DStv Premiership table with 18 points after 14 matches.
